Breaking Expectations
Palo Verde Library, Phoenix, AZ
Over the course of two months, I facilitated workshops on mask-making and storytelling with a group of five teenagers at the Maryvale Community Center in Phoenix, AZ. In these workshops the participants explored what their self-efficacy beliefs were and how those beliefs were shaped by their community, they then used what they learned as inspiration and crafting masks and monologues that expressed their self-efficacy beliefs. Breaking Expectations is an art installation I designed and curated which displayed the participants mask art and recorded monologues in the Palo Verde Library for the public to experience.
